IT Infrastructure Manager – Security and Infrastructure

What will you be doing?

Working as a key part of the IT Leadership team, this role is responsible for developing the strategic direction & services to enable the business to function securely & resiliently.

Core responsibilities include

  • Infrastructure architecture and the leadership & development of the technical infrastructure team
  • Responsibility for growing the cybersecurity programme and evolving the Group’s transition to a mature secure and operational robust environment.
  • Day to day services delivery
  • Ensuring that the IT strategy for infrastructure and security requirements supports the business in term of growth and strategy.
  • Proposing a strategy for information security and IT infrastructure technologies\services.
  • Implementing and overseeing the deployment of information security and IT infrastructure technologies.
  • Developing and implementing business continuity plans.
  • Day to day service delivery, infrastructure architecture & operational excellence improvement programme.
  • Strong strategic & tactical leadership to drive all programmes, including leadership development of team.
  • Driving change projects and building new IT capabilities.
  • Complying with any necessary regulations and compliance requirements.

Security

  • Dedicated responsibilities to ensure security has the necessary business credence & governance.
    • Security best practice, threat intelligence, and incident response.
    • An influential voice in security in the support of:
      • Technology & infrastructure decisions
      • Enterprise risk management
      • Empowering all of IT in the delivery of security operational excellence.
      • Business engagement
        • Leading our business through change in support of the security programme
        • Driving a continuing programme of engagement to ensure everyone in our company is part of our cybersecurity defence.
    • Accreditation implementation programmes, attainment & ongoing testing\compliance.
    • Devising IT solutions to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks.

What skills and experience do you need?

Whilst a recognised IT Security accreditation would be nice, evidence of working and knowledge in that area would suffice as long as it can be evidenced.

In depth knowledge and ability to architect Infrastructure solutions based upon Microsoft technologies.

A strong focus on service to your business colleagues together with a natural ability to present solutions to senior business executives.

  • Degree level qualifications or equivalent.
  • Appropriate industry-recognised security qualifications or equivalent.

    The IT Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organisation.     What will you be doing?

     

    You will be leading the development and execution of the IT strategy, ensuring deep alignment with the organisation's goals and objectives. To do this you must be a natural in keeping current with the latest technology trends, fostering innovation, and direct research on potential technology solutions.

    • Oversee the creation, management and maintenance of an IT Department and technology roadmap, focusing on strategic priorities and future scalability.
    • Direct risk assessment initiatives, identify potential vulnerabilities, and establish mitigation strategies to support strategic goals.
    • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures that span architecture, security, disaster recovery, and purchasing, aligned with business objectives.
    • Establish and oversee IT governance frameworks and standard operating procedures including financial planning for the IT department, including budgeting, purchasing, and ongoing financial review.
    • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to define both business and system requirements for new technology implementations.

    What skills and experience do you need to bring to the role?

     

    The role requires strong experience in leading IT functions with strong attention to detail in the delivery of technical solutions and IT services.  A university degree in the field of computer science or information technology, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 5 years related work experience. The skills required are a mixture of Technology Leadership, IT governance, Project Management and 3rd Party Service Management. You will need to show a willingness and attitude to get involved with whatever is necessary to deliver a great IT service to the business.

    Strong leadership skills with excellent written and oral communication skills. You will possess a natural ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required which can then be presented in a user friendly non-technical manner.

    • Recognised certifications in IT governance or project management such as PMP, PRINCE2, or ITIL.
    • Familiarity with ISO27001 and other relevant Information Security industry standards and frameworks such as CISSP, CompTIA.
    • Understanding of IT governance principles and frameworks
    • Proficiency in strategic IT planning and development
    • Appreciation of business analysis and process capture methodologies.

    What skills/experience do you need to be successful in the role?

     

    We are looking for IT Infrastructure Professionals with at least 3 years relevant experience in a commercial business environment. You should have a good education (or solid proven success in an Infrastructure Engineer role) with solid technical qualifications.

    As well as exceptional soft skills in communication, planning, and user engagement, you should be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge in the following areas.

    • Infrastructure, software, and hardware (e.g. Virtualisation, RDS, Networking, firewall technologies, Active Directory, PC, software & cloud deployment, Microsoft365, Exchange Administration, Azure AD and SharePoint.
    • Requires a supporting knowledge of telecommunications.
    • A good understanding of industry standards and cybersecurity, e.g. including but not limited to ISO9001, ISO027001, Cyber Essentials and ITIL.
    • Understanding of project management principles. Excellent coordination skills.
    • Ongoing technical skills developments and certification where required.
    • Experience in working on IT Service Delivery
    • Excellent skills in standard Windows Office applications – Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Office 365.

    Experience in SharePoint & planning tools such as MS Project is desirable but not essential.
